USB WiFi dongles are so unreliable, to the point of locking up the Linux kernel needing a restart to resolve.

Back online finally, thunderstorm and brownout caused my router with all custom setup to factory reset.

Have a rourer config backup! I didn't and learned my lesson.

"ZFS has very simple administration, you need exactly 2 commands to manage your entire storage configuration".

Well, technically, my entire OS has a single command to do *everything* - busybox 😁

ffplay -i /dev/video0 -vf 'lagfun=decay=0.98[tmp]; [tmp] hue=180*sin(t)' # Kids bored on a rainy day, put this on and watch them play. Hook this up to a TV with a computer with a webcam and they can watch the effects live. /dev/video0 needs to be changed to whatever your cam is.

I don't usually dream, but when I do, it's.... something. Today I was a male mermaid, being shot like an arrow from a bow, while sitting in a car across a river, not reaching all the way and falling into the river. Being a mermaid I swam to the bottom, found a teleport to a space station and there had to dodge lasers, game arcade style.

How does one pronounce GNU? Is it "ɲu" like in "magnifique"?

Hi folks,

Here’s a friendly reminder to:

Back up your PC and/or data.

It doesn’t have to be complicated. Even a simple weekly copy-paste of your most important files onto a separate USB hard drive is good enough and much better than no backup at all.

So like, how does one self-host stuff such as a website or a fediverse instance? What do you even need hardware-wise? And can it be something that won't significantly increase the electricity bill by running 24/7 and is not super expensive at the same time?
